Amoung the many things on my current bucket list is to visit New Zealand’s Marlborough Sounds and the beaches of the South Island. I want to spend some time soaking in the serenity and scenic beauty that are such an intrinsic part of the culture of this country.
Although New Zealand has primarily a Western Culture, it is richly diverse and filled with the history of the Maori people. Because of its intrinsic beauty and its diverse people, I am seriously thinking about retiring to New Zealand.
It’s truly possible to start your day high in the mountains, tour the wine country and end your day on a coastal beach. Or if you prefer, take a long hike or bike ride and then stop for a delicious dinner followed by taking time out to enjoy an unparalleled view of the stars.

Sounds like where we live a bit. Coast, wine, mountains all in one day. It’s beautiful and less crowded than the Willamette Valley.

Yes, Lisa, when I first started researching New Zealand I was struck by how similar some of the places looked to Oregon. I took this picture in the Columbia River Gorge.

I would love to visit New Zealand one day as well! I love traveling and watching traveling videos and reading all about traveling and I have always been drawn to the absolute beauty that is New Zealand.

Stephanie, have you thought about working your way there on a cruise ship? I once looked into working in the travel industry as a way to see more of the world.

My bucket list also has “visit New Zealand” on it, pictures just make it look spectacular and I’m sure it is even better in person. I have got to make a plan to see it in person!

Jessica, I agree, now to find the funding, right? A wise person once told me to become a travel guide and set up tour groups. In that way, I would have my travel paid for and be able to take pictures all around the world. What do you think about that?
